I believe constructivism is a learning method in which the child or student constructs their own understandings through personal experiences. In addition, students change and reflect on the experience to fit their learning style.
Constructivism is how a child (or any learner) creates their own learning by constructing their new knowledge based on their prior knowledge. The use of prior knowledge gives a basis for the networks, or schemas, that allow for the building of the new knowledge. New knowledge can fit with or expand prior knowledge, which is assimilation. It can also create accommodations by overhauling or replacing existing data in a schema.
Constructivism is where a person starts building on prior knowledge to construct their own ways to solve any problems and frames their own learning styles. Constructivism will also show the students characteristics.
According to my understanding, constructivism means creating new knowledge by blending existing knowledge with new ideas. When learning, students either change their understanding to accommodate new ideas, or integrate new ideas by building on their existing knowledge. In both ways, students construct knowledge based on their own experiences.
Constructivism is when a student takes what he or she already knows and applies it to something new. The student learns from past experiences and prior knowledge.
From previous classes I have learned that constructivism is a theory that we develop knowledge and meaning from our past and present experiences. We are able to think about, learn from, and build on our past experiences.
Constructivism is when a student applies prior knowledge and experiences to what he/she is currently learning. By connecting old ideas with new ones, students are able to gain a better understanding of the material being learned.
Constructivism is a theory that learning is done through experiences that are meaningful and relevant to each individual's life. Often these experiences build on prior knowledge which creates further understanding of the subject matter.
Constructivism is: Having a constructivist approach to something means putting together the pieces and understanding a concept. A learner is capable of putting together his/her thoughts and make sense of a concept in his/her eyes.
I believe constructivism is creating meaning through your own experiences. You construct meaning through what you have experienced and the knowledge you have gained because of that experience.
In my opinion, constructivism is a theory which states that people learn and develop from everyday experiences. They then build upon previously learned knowledge.
I believe constructivism is when people learn from their expierences and they build on what they know. They also build connecitons between new and old information with these expierences.
Constructivism, in a nut shell, is the ability to learn and develop ideas based on personal/unique experiences. People learn this way because they can connect new information to things that they already know.
Constructivism is the theory that we build our knowledge based on our prior knowledge. The ways in which we build new topics and concepts onto what we already know. As a teacher, it is important to understand that not all students are going to have the same experiences so their background knowledge is going to be different. Schemata relates prior information to new concepts.
Constructivism is the theory that humans learn based on their own personal experiences. Students learn through performing hands-on-learning activities. Students can connect what they learn through activities to their previous knowledge.
Constructivism is a process which students take knowledge they previously posess and try to solve a problem with an unknown method of solution - acording to them at the current time.
Constructivsm is learning through doing. The student activates prior knowledge and constructs a bridge from that prior knowledge to the new material being presented.
Constructivism is when students create meaning in their own way based off of their prior knowledge, past learning experiences, and existing knowledge. Additionally, students construct knowledge through their families, school experiences, and other social settings.
Constructivism is the theory that people, students, use their prior knowledge of prior experiences to help them learn new ideas. It helps them connect thir new ideas to their old ideas so the memory can be activate together in the future. This theory also adds in that every student is different and learns in different ways.
Constructivism is a process that students activate their prior knowledge of a concept or topic and create a relationship with the new information to help them better understand the material.
This blogspot for ELED 330 K-8 Math Methods serves three main purposes, (1) it is a method of assessment for the instructor to keep track of your reflective thinking in the course, (2) it provides formative assessment data which help change the course, for example, feedback on the pace, explanations, depth and breadth might change the instructor's course of action in the tentative course schedule and provide opportunities for "Just in time teaching", and (3) it creates a learning environment where you feel like you can connect and make sense of the pedagogical and mathematical ideas in this course with your peers. Understandings can be arrived at as a collective rather than an individual effort.
Students enrolled in ELED 330 K-8 Math Methods are allowed to post and comment in this blog. I would like you, as a cohort, to use this space as a learning board in which you seek knowledge from your peers in the course about things in this course and help other's come to the understandings that you have. This blog has been created as a learning environment for both the instructor and the participants in this course.
We are going to start this course with geometry topics, which K-8 mathematics geometry topics would you most like a content refresher and a deeper delve into current and best-practice teaching methods?
